Beta Launches and Politics... kinda.
Mantle. is more than a great place to work. It's a great place to grow too. Mantle. Inc.ubator is a place where idea-stage app and software businesses can take their idea to reality using Mantle. office space and resources in exchange for equity in the resulting company. Mantle.'s first incubating company was and is a fin-tech artificial intelligence company named Finaius, www.finaius.com.
Mantle. is so very excited to host the Beta launch party for Finaius this Thursday, May 4th. The company is providing beer and apps to its guests and those guests will be the first to see their product go live! The beta party is from 6pm to 8pm during First Thursday with the "launch" at 7pm.
What's more is you may have recently read about Finaius in the news. The incubating team from Millsaps College has been doing more than just building "Siri for Financial Questions". They have also been putting their skills to work to apply software to the race for mayor and to benefit the people of the City of Jackson all at the same time.
Here is what co-founder Veer Singh said about their latest foray in city politics:
My team and I were contacted by mayoral candidate John Horhn’s campaign team to create a search engine for lost money. Senator Horne had learned about our team through our business professor at Millsaps, Dr. Bill Brister.
On our first meeting, the senator informed us that there is currently somewhere in the ballpark of $7 million worth of unclaimed property sitting at the State Treasury Department which was very time consuming and confusing to uncover. Specifically, there were two issues that were present for normal Jackson citizens:
1) Most Jacksonians have no idea about this matter or the procedure in which to recover it, and;
2) There is no easy tool for people to see the exact amount that was owed to them.
For his campaign, Senator Horne wanted our team to create a search engine that would allow Jackson citizens to find the exact amount of money owed each citizen in a very simple manner. His team challenged us to do deliver for our city. Our team was able to produce a prototype in 10 days that was able to extract the exact amount owed a Jacksonian from the State Treasury database.
Senator Horhn’s team then challenged us to make it better. They said that the days of Jackson getting a second-class solution a first class problem were over. So we dug in and we think we delivered.
"Get Your Cash Back Jackson" is a database program, which presents public information through an easy to use interface. The user simply inputs their email, name, and zip code and the system presents all instances of their name. If a match is found the user simply clicks the "GET YOUR MONEY NOW" link and the proper form is presented along with easy-to-follow instructions.
Once we finished the www.getyourmoneybackjackson.com website, we were honored to stand beside Senator Horhn at a press conference and a radio interview talking about this fun side project and our main passion, Finaius. Senator Horhn told me that he believes that Jackson needs to know that technology companies, like ours, can make a huge impact to the city of Jackson. I sincerely hope that we can show them that. And, maybe, save get them some of their money back!
I believe that this project will do just that and is the beginning of what Jackson has to offer!
Shine on, Jackson.
